Rhyddings Kitchen Garden & Bee Diaries

2021, a new beginning in the Kitchen Garden

2020

March 2020, all changed in the Kitchen Garden, FoRP & HBC have done their best to look after & develop the Kitchen Garden - we think we did ok but knew we needed a Gardener on site for some of the week to pick up the project, support volunteers into the Kitchen Garden and continue its community led development.

Kate - our new Gardener

Behind the scenes, FoRP have been working hard to find a way to employ a gardener. Having secured a grant from East Lancs CCG (thank you so much ELCCG), we have taken a leap of faith and employed Kate ! At the moment this is a fixed term contract for 15 hours a week but it is very much a step in the right direction. We have other grant applications pending.

Next steps

Today, 7/1/2021, Kate had her induction, kindly support by HBC. Tomorrow 8/1/2021 we will have a meeting to start organising ourselves, planting plans, how we can get volunteers back into the kitchen garden etc . We are so grateful to HBC for their continued support @Rhyddings and are delighted 2021 has got off to such a positive start in the Kitchen Garden. Kate will be posting on the FoRP Facebook page & we will be developing this page on the website to ensure we the community are updated.

Meet Moss

Moss !

Today 8/1/201, Kate's second day - we had a meeting with HBC, Lewis showed Kate around (and brewed up) & we met Moss, Kate's dog - who loves the fact her mum has a job where she is welcome too

Volunteering in the Kitchen Garden

Kate will be around on Saturday 9/1/2021  and hopes to meet people from Rhyddings Community.

Limited Volunteer Sessions are available from next week - everything must be booked via the website shop due to COVID 19 requirement - small steps and new beginnings !
